VitalStart was built for providers that need stronger clinical capability but cannot, or should not, recreate every clinical, governance and workforce function alone.
Our story
VitalStart was founded on a practical truth: when care moves between providers, workers and settings, someone must still see the whole clinical picture.
Yet many care organisations cannot justify building every nursing, governance, education and assurance capability in-house. The result can be fragmented decisions, unclear escalation and clinical risk sitting quietly between services.
We give that responsibility a clear home. VitalStart operates as an outsourced clinical department, combining fractional clinical leadership, specialist nursing, workforce competency, incident oversight, education and provider-ready evidence.
Providers gain the clinical capability to grow without losing control. Participants and families receive safer, better coordinated care from a team that knows who is accountable.

Mercy leads VitalStart's clinical quality, escalation, care delivery, education and service-improvement approach.
Mercy is a registered nurse with more than 25 years of clinical, leadership, education and management experience across Australia, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. Her career has focused on person-centred care, clinical governance and developing capable healthcare teams.
Since 2017, Mercy has worked in Australian aged care, progressing through Senior Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse Educator, Acting Deputy Director of Nursing and Acting Director of Nursing roles to become a Director of Nursing. Her experience includes quality improvement, accreditation, workforce development, risk management, regulatory compliance and evidence-based care.
In New Zealand, Mercy worked as a Clinical Teaching Associate and Clinical Educator, teaching Bachelor of Nursing students, supervising placements across aged care, hospital, theatre, emergency, community and specialist settings, and providing academic and clinical support. She also practised as a registered nurse in aged care.
Mercy completed her nursing education in Zimbabwe and gained almost ten years of acute clinical experience as a Theatre Nurse and Acting Sister-in-Charge, alongside work in emergency, outpatient, medical and surgical settings.
